Exploring New Matcha Cafes in NYC: Mika’s Direction & 12 Matcha

This morning, I came across a post about a matcha spot called Mika’s Direction and decided to check it out. The moment I walked in, I was greeted by thesmell of freshly baked cookies. They looked so good that I had to get one—a yuzu black tea cookie for myself and a strawberry matcha cookie for my colleague, who loves matcha.

I noticed the little Smiskis on the counter and shelves, which is such a cute and fun detail. They also sell their own brand of matcha! I got a hot matcha latte to go, and I really like it! And the cookie? It was so good with a strong tea flavor. My colleague loved the strawberry matcha one too! I think I should come back again and try their other flavors.

Later during our lunch break, my colleague and I went for a walk and passed by that beautiful white building at the corner of Bond Street and Bowery. Through the windows, we spotted what looked like a café and got curious. Then we saw the sign: 12 Matcha. We were both surprised—Wait, is this new? We need to check it out.

We walked in and were amazed by the beautiful interior, the space was so well-designed. They also have ice cream and matcha Basque cheesecake.

My colleague got a matcha latte, and that’s when we found out it was actually their soft opening day! I didn’t grab anything this time since I already had a matcha latte in the morning, but I’d love to come back again and try their matcha another time.
