NYC March Moments: Cafés, Walks& New Shops (Part 1)

Time is passing by so quickly—March is coming to an end, and we are officially in spring! The weather has been so unpredictable lately. One day, I’m stepping out in a light jacket and short sleeves, and the next, I’m bundled up in knitwear and a puffer. But despite the weather roller coaster, I’m really enjoying the longer days. It's such a great feeling walking out of the office and still have daylight. Here are some of the highlights so far from this month:

I went to the East Village this lunch break and stopped by Niconeco Zakkaya, a really cute Japanese stationery store. I love wandering their store, checking out all the adorable things they have—from washi tapes, letters, and cards to pens and notebooks. I also found out that they are soon opening a café called Loaf on Paper in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and I’m so excited about it! I can’t wait to visit.

Afterwards, I went to get a matcha latte at Lê Phin, a Vietnamese coffee shop just steps away. On the way back to the office, a yellow flower tree caught my eye—the colors were so pretty. I'm really excited for next month, when colorful flowers will be everywhere.

My go-to outfit recently!

As the weather is getting nicer, I’m getting back into my morning walks before work. On this day, I left home early and got off at Grand Central Station, deciding to start my walk from there. I spotted a cute café called Dae Day and went in for a cappuccino. I really liked the design of their take-out cup—I love checking out the design details of the cafés and their cups, and how each place puts its own creative touch into the experience.

I walked along Lexington Avenue and stopped by Utopia Bagels. My colleague had recommended their bagels, so I’d been wanting to give them a try. There were a lot of people in the store when I arrived, but luckily, there was only one person ahead of me in line—though a long line quickly formed behind me! I got a plain bagel and a cinnamon raisin to-go, and they were really good!

It's always nice to browse through the fresh produce and flowers at the Union Square Green Market. Of course, I couldn't leave without the morning bun from Bread Alone!

After years of walking past Ole & Steen, admiring their pastry-filled window display, I finally went in and got the Cinnamon Social!
