I had seen photos of the River Building, designed by SANAA, at Grace Farms in New Canaan, Connecticut many times before and always hoped to visit one day. On a winter afternoon, we finally went.

We began at the West Barn. I had seen on their website that they host a range of events throughout the year, and many of them looked interesting. From there, we followed the path toward the Pavilion. We got a cup of tea and found seats by the large glass windows, looking out at the snowy scenery.

We continued walking along the curved path, exploring the different spaces. It felt like the kind of place where you could spend an entire afternoon — working quietly, reading in the library, or sitting in the Commons with a snack and a warm drink while enjoying the beautiful surroundings.

There was a peaceful feeling throughout the space, as if time had slowed down for a while. I would love to return in another season, when the fields turn green, to see how the atmosphere shifts with the changing landscape.
