Right when I walked into this new apartment, I immediately fell in love with the window view. There were trees outside. In our previous place, we barely opened the shades because the building next door was so close, and there was basically nothing to look at. Having a view like this honestly feels like a dream.

Since moving in, my favorite thing to do has been looking out the window looking for little animals. We found there are squirrel nests in the branches! I didn’t know that squirrels build their nest up in trees.
Sometimes they run back and forth carrying sticks to their nests.

Sometimes they chase each other (playing? fighting?).

Sometimes they nap, and they curl up their tails over their head like a tiny blanket.

Recently, I’ve started noticing new neighbors too. A small group of dark-eyed Juncos was hanging out in the branches the other day.

I heard a loud chirping sound outside and started looking around...and that’s when I spotted a Blue Jay. This one really likes to talk!

“Look! There’s an Angry Bird out there!” I was so excited when I noticed the vibrant red of a Northern Cardinal.

I also learned that the vibrant red cardinals are the males, and the females are mostly brown with subtle touches of red.

Now anytime I hear chirping or see a movement, I immediately look up to see what they're up to. (Probably not the best when I'm trying to stay focused…) As we move closer to spring, I can’t wait to see more little neighbors join in!
